Fallen Officer Memorial ScholarshipIn 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officer Memorial Day, and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. Since 1982, a memorial service has been held in Washington D.C. during Police Week to honor fallen law enforcement officer from across the nation.
In 2021, 563 officers were reported nationally as line of duty deaths. Over the years, Shelby County law enforcement has had endured the loss of seven of our own officers. The Fraternal Order of Police Shelby Lodge #84 is honored to offer scholarships to graduating seniors in memory of our fallen brothers and sister. |
Who Is Eligible |
Anyone expecting to graduate from any of the five high schools in Shelby County and intends to pursue continued education at a college, university, or technical school is eligible and can apply for this scholarship through the Blue River Community Foundation. There are no restrictions regarding an applicant's choice of major therefore the application is truly open to any student with any intended career path. It is no longer necessary to complete and return a scholarship application directly to F.O.P. Shelby #84.

What's It Worth |
Scholarship winners will receive a one time award of $500 that can be used to offset the cost of tuition, room and board, books, and any other fees incurred by the student as they continue their education. One student from each of the five local high schools will be selected each year to receive this scholarship.
